Apprenticeships and Employment

Cyber Security is a cornerstone of the New Virginia Economy. The Commonwealth recognizes that in order to maintain its leadership position in cyber security, a sustainable workforce pipeline capable of supporting an exponentially growing need for cyber professionals must be developed and maintained. To that end, the Commonwealth has created three programs designed to connect cyber professionals with cyber employment opportunities.

Cyber Jobs

Cyber Job Portal

The Commonwealth has thousands of open cyber jobs, so connecting Virginia cyber professionals with Virginia cyber jobs is of the utmost importance. To facilitate the process, the Commonwealth launched the Virginia Job Portal to provide a “one-stop-shop” for cyber jobs in the Commonwealth.

Apprenticeships

Administered by the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry (VDOLI), Registered Apprenticeships combine on-the-job learning with classroom-related instruction, with the latter often delivered by a community college or career and technical education center. Registered Apprenticeships provide valuable, life long career benefits, including: certifications and licenses guaranteeing proficiency to employers, hands-on skill development in the field, and the opportunity to simultaneously learn and earn - with a graduated pay scale that recognizes increased skill attainment.
